Spyro The Dragon may soon make his return sooner than you think!

Since no new Spyro game has come out for quite some time now, everyone must surely have been wondering where our beloved purple dragon stands today.

Spyro is back! In 2018, Spyro Reignited Trilogy – a remastered collection of his initial three games – hit shelves. Five years might seem long since an entirely fresh entry like The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon was released for consoles back in 2008.

Back in January, fans noticed developer Toys for Bob had included Spyro in its tweet detailing its “big moves and BIG MOOD for 2023”, prompting much speculation as to its plans for him. We still have not heard anything official regarding Spyro’s return; however hints towards it might have surfaced through Toys for Bob’s Crash Team Rumble release.

Game Rant reports that Crash Bandicoot’s online 4v4 multiplayer title features Crash and his friends; however, fans have discovered an homage to Spyro the Dragon hidden within its battle pass system. More specifically, Tier 71 of Battle Pass awards players with the “Dragon Vision Banner”, where closely examined you can spot two crystal dragon statues which look an awful like those from Spyro 1!

Game Rant reports that an old banner displayed on Crash Team Rumble’s website contained icons for characters which seemed absent at launch – two of these hinted towards Spyro and Ripto being part of this title.

What does all this entail? One likely conclusion would be Spyro’s inclusion as playable character in Crash Team Rumble in future, which would be fantastic. Yet we all hope Toys for Bob are offering us this as a hint that Spyro won’t be forgotten and maybe one day soon we could look forward to new Spyro games being created? Please?
