Late last month, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened came out seemingly out of nowhere but brought with it bad news for console-users hoping for its launch.

Hogwarts Legacy remains 2023’s premiere Wizarding World game; many consider it “the definitive Harry Potter experience”, giving fans their opportunity to live out their story as Hogwarts students themselves for once! However, another Harry Potter RPG called Mage Knight RPG has also created buzz.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is an MMO collectible card wizard duelling game with strategy RPG elements that is set 10 years after The Deathly Hallows (where Hogwarts was devastated in battle), featuring familiar faces from books and films alongside brand new ones.

“Your journey towards mastering magic begins here! Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!”, reads the game’s description. “Fight in thrilling multiplayer, real-time matches. Explore Diagon Alley shops; solve mysteries as you roam school halls; show off your moves at Dance Club performances; explore Forbidden Forest; all while collecting cards in this new card collection and role-playing game!”

Sounds fun? Fans have already been impressed with Magic Awakened’s beautiful art style that gives its characters the look they were plucked from a children’s book! Unfortunately for anyone hoping to play Magic Awakened on PS5, Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series X/S consoles however that unfortunately is not an option as Gfinity reported that currently the game can only be downloaded and played via PC, iOS and Android; no word as of yet on whether other formats might follow later in development.

Though that doesn’t necessarily rule out porting it over later – plenty of mobile games that were originally optimized for phones have since made an appearance on consoles – for now if you want a spoiler free experience of this title it might just make more sense to download it onto your phone first.
