Tragedies occured recently when one Fallout 4 player’s game crashed, leading to their save file becoming completely corrupted and completely erased.

Unfortunate Fallout players spent over 200 hours trying to beat 100% in all DLC expansion packs of Fallout, only for their game to crash and corrupt all save files, rendering their efforts futile.

Shared via Reddit thread, one user lamented their ordeal: “When my game crashed and when I went back in to load up all my save files had disappeared. At that time I had completed all main story quests as well as most sidequests; with only miscellaneous sidequests remaining and final touches needed on my settlements left for completion before starting over from square 1.

“My goal was to complete every part of this game: uncover every location and quest; beat every challenge; collect every bobblehead/magazine combo; unlock each perk.” Eventually I reached around Level 90.

Truth be told, no one knows why this happened – however Bethesda games have long been known for having multiple bugs and glitches which caused save files to become corrupted, so many probably weren’t surprised that save files got deleted altogether.

However, one user saw it as an opportunity to revisit a game they enjoyed; commenting “Oh well looks like I gotta go play some more Fallout now lol”, with hopes that they reach its conclusion this time around.

Yet that hasn’t stopped fellow fans from sharing their regrets; some now fearing the same glitch will also delete their save files.

“Oh no. That must have hurt. I feared I might lose my play through. Sorry it happened to you.”

“That sounds tragic; my sympathies go out to you for such an experience. However, I must admire your spirit and attitude despite it all! Perhaps it’s for this very reason that so many players love playing – ”

How are all my save files getting corrupted? Individual ones have been affected, but not every file in one game at the same time… I’ve been thankful a few times when an accidental file deletion or game progression errors interrupted their playthrough.”

While having to start from scratch is disheartening, they at least know where most items and characters reside – hopefully making their journey towards 100% easier!

One thing we know for certain about Fallout 5, though, is they have enough time to complete it before its release – which should happen after Bethesda wraps up The Elder Scrolls VI and will only be an Xbox exclusive release – likely dissatisfying PlayStation users.
