Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered multiplayer mode in development
Call of Duty multiplayer will soon get even better thanks to skilled modders.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was initially released for purchase in 2009 and quickly earned critical acclaim, garnering scores as high as 94.4 on Metacritic. Many consider Modern Warfare 2 the pinnacle of its series based on both single-player campaign playability and multiplayer offerings alike. Such widespread praise led Metacritic score calculations to award it with 94% overall score!
Modern Warfare 2 would become such a hit commercially and critically that its success led to both rebooting of MW1 in 2019 followed by MWII being remastered but only for single player campaigns – not multiplayer mode! Modern Warfare 2 itself would also get its single player campaign remastered but no multiplayer features were included with that particular edition being remastered in 2020.
Not content with the multiplayer of Modern Warfare II (2022), fans have taken matters into their own hands by creating and releasing their own multiplayer mod for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.
As reported by Dualshockers, @H2Multiplayer on Twitter represented its Multiplayer mod for Mass Effect 2 by responding to one of their followers with this tweet from it: “Yes, this is from our Multiplayer Mod MW2. Let’s hope we get its elevators working soon!”
Evidently, the mod is quite ambitious in scope as its creator notes it will feature not only standard MW2 maps but also campaign remastered maps repurposed. Furthermore, development for this mod has begun and hopefully we will see something within a couple months.
However, Activision may seek to shut down this mod before its official release, possibly as evidenced by why H2Multiplayer Twitter account has been made private. Although we hope not, but don’t be shocked if that does indeed transpire; rather we would be more amazed if Activision were to allow this mod out given how closely its contents may conflict with Modern Warfare II (2022).
An insider believes Call of Duty 2024 will feature the Gulf War as its theme and could even serve as the reboot for Modern Warfare III this year.
