Middle-earth: Shadow of War fans have labeled it one of the “most under-appreciated games ever”, and rightfully so; this title is truly incredible.

Fans of Lord of the Rings were profoundly underwhelmed with Gollum when released this year – fans were appalled with its shocking state. Daedalic Entertainment shut down as a result, canceling development on two other titles related to Lord of the Rings as well as another IP title, though perhaps Private Division and Weta Workshop’s Middle-earth open world game (in development now) might surprise us all? In any event, we can still enjoy older classics in the meantime!

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War was released back in 2017 so it is by no means old. Created by Monolith Productions and developed for PC by Sledgehammer Games, Shadow of War serves as a follow-up title to 2014’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor which, of course, has long been considered one of the best Lord of the Rings games around – leaving its sequel somewhat in its shadow due to microtransactions and its somewhat less engaging story arc. However, Shadow of War definitely had its fair share of success upon its initial launch though for different reasons than its predecessor due its microtransactions and lighter story line than its predecessor but this won’t stop playback gaming enthusiasts from trying it now!

Redditors found Shadow of War not receiving enough praise. One user asked whether Shadow of War should be considered one of the “most under-appreciated games ever?” to which many replied yes, while Leonel979 simply wrote, “YES YES YES.” His message was short but sweet!

Lawlcopt0r commented, “I think Shadow of War was fairly successful but doesn’t receive enough praise for its artistic merit,” while Drwho201 noted, “Definitely Shadow of War is one of my all-time favourite games despite receiving criticism over its loot box system; yet personally speaking I think it barely changed the gameplay experience at all! Unfortunately though it seems its reputation took an unfortunate hit when released; its unique Nemesis system being one of its signature features which should make people play it more. Maybe now would be the time for me to start all over.”
