Starfield seems like an amazing adventure: over 1,000 planets to discover! NPCs that will say your name? Amazing stuff. Amazing alien lifeforms waiting to be explored? Absolutely thrilling.

However, many fans were unaware of Starfield’s potential ability to allow users to adopt or care for pets in space – the sole thing keeping it from becoming the game of 2023 in my eyes.

Pets may still not have been officially confirmed by Bethesda, but Reddit fans have found an intriguing piece of concept art from YouTube series Into the Starfield from November 2021 showing an astronaut and young girl walking alongside a normal-appearing cat that may hint that we may one day live alongside our own felines while travelling through space! That would truly be incredible if this comes to pass!

If Starfield includes animals as pets, dogs should certainly be included – particularly if they get to wear tiny space suits! Even if Earth-dwelling pets weren’t chosen as our official choices for adoption purposes, perhaps Todd Howard can tell us it will happen anyway? Please tell me it will.

Starfield completionists should expect a lengthy exploration experience across its planets for weeks – yet its main story may actually take much less time to finish than you expected! Howard recently noted that it will take anywhere between 30-40 hours to finish its campaign (in stark contrast to Persona 5 Royal’s 80 hours!), though much of your playtime may go towards side quests and exploration – don’t feel frustrated if 30 hours isn’t quite long enough!

Starfield will make its debut on 6 September.
