Even those who dislike The Last of Us Part II generally consider it one of the greatest video games ever for various reasons.

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series provided the inspiration behind The Last of Us on PlayStation 3. Set against an post-apocalyptic world ravaged by Cordyceps virus that turned humans into violent mutants who actively spread its infection, it represented one final test for Sony’s console in 2013.

Ellie and Joel stand at the core of its narrative. Without giving too much away, Joel, an immoral family man turned ruthless smuggler is charged with protecting 14-year-old Ellie across America on her journey towards being delivered into rebel group known as Fireflies for protection. It is thought that Ellie may hold key to humanity’s survival; when Joel forms an incredible parental relationship with Ellie he vows to keep protecting her no matter the costs involved.

The Last of Us’ narrative proved so captivating, it resulted in two adaptations for HBO – including this year’s live-action television show which premiered earlier this month – as well as The Last of Us Part II being released for PlayStation4.

Like The Last of Us Part I from 2013, The Last of Us Part II marked one of PS4’s final major exclusives and would push its capabilities to their absolute limits. Without giving too much away here in terms of story details or spoilers, let me just say this sequel visually is simply stunning given it was released last-gen platform.

At its debut, this sequel looked and played even better thanks to a PS5 upgrade that brought 4K resolution, silky-smooth 60fps gameplay, and improved visuals than before.

Redditors on Reddit have long debated The Last of Us Part II’s visual excellence even three years after its launch, starting the discussion by sharing a tweet by DomTheBomb himself. Reddit user Alive-Ad-4164 started this particular thread of debate by sharing one such tweet from Dom.

“After only three years it still looks stunning – Naughty Dog has done incredible work” commented Redditor toldya_fareducation. WattsonRules added, “Last of Us Part II on PS4 Pro looks better than many PS5 games”. Furthermore Revealingstorm shared their opinion. Uncharted 4 ‘looks brand new now that i am playing it for the first time’ said Revealingstorm.

According to reports from inside sources, The Last of Us Part III could arrive much more rapidly than anticipated and is being developed specifically for PlayStation 6.

Within the immediate time frame, The Last of Us Part II has just come out for PlayStation, while PC and PS5 users can get The Original Last of Us: Part One as its remake.
