Andrew Garfield petition for Amazing Spider-Man 3 has collected more than 30,00 signatures so far.
Over 31,000 Spider-Man fans are hoping for a miracle and have signed the petition calling upon Sony Entertainment to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
After nine years since Andrew Garfield abruptly ended his planned Amazing Spider-Man trilogy due to an underwhelming second film, many fans remain disgruntled over what might have been and continue campaigning to see another installment made.
Petition “Make Amazing Spider-Man 3 with Andrew Garfield”, has received just under 33,000 signatures to date.
As part of its campaign to increase diversity within Hollywood film franchises, Tobey Maguire reprised his original trilogy roles alongside Andrew Garfield from reboot series films as Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire for original trilogy films; Garfield from reboot and current Spider-Man Tom Holland being planned for fourth film), giving rise to this effort for diversity within casting roles for film franchises that otherwise feature two actors per franchise (Tobey Maguire from original trilogy films, Andrew Garfield for reboot series films and Tom Holland who could return).
As Andrew’s version of Peter Parker recalled Gwen Stacey’s tragic demise during Amazing Spider-Man 2 and how he hadn’t managed to save her, our collective emotions were stirred as her tragic demise inspired his anger against his enemies – including Tom Holland as Mary Jane who fell off of Liberty Island before Garfield came in at the last second to save the day with an emotionally compelling rescue scene fans loved and revered.
Fans have since been asking Sony to bring back The Amazing Spider-Man series, leading them to initiate this petition which states, in part: “Spider-Man deserves better – something Tobey and Tom gave their respect towards. A third attempt.”
Though The Amazing Spider-Man 3 may never actually enter production, Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man could make another appearance, potentially in some form as part of Sony’s forthcoming villain/anti-hero films like Venom 3 or Kraven The Hunter.
Spidey fans have had an exceptional year so far, thanks to amazing movies like Oscar-nominee Across The Spider-Verse and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which will debut on PlayStation 5 later in October.
Hoepfully the year will end off well with some official news of Garfield’s return in upcoming projects.
