Horizon Zero Dawn developer teases 16 additional projects set within Horizon universe
Guerrilla Games’ current projects total 16 and we hope you are ready for more Horizon content to arrive on Steam soon.
After the unprecedented success of Horizon: Forbidden West and its DLC Burning Shores, Guerrilla Games had no option but to continue this PlayStation-exclusive franchise.
Horizon TV series already in development at Netflix shows no signs of stopping, with developers recently confirming there will be more Horizon projects on the horizon… get it?
Guerrilla Games’ studio director Jan-Bart van Beek recently discussed their plans to expand and continue Aloy’s story in future installments, speaking during a Develop: Brighton talk. At that time, 16 “active plans” – not necessarily related solely to games – were underway that Beek revealed during that same talk.
Beek elaborated: “We plan on carrying on for an indeterminate length of time… As people may already know, we are also working on developing a multiplayer game.”
“Creating this multiplayer experience presents a major change for our studio… developing this all to provide a multiplayer experience is our greatest challenge yet!”
Sixteen projects may seem excessive for such a relatively new franchise as Horizon: Zero Dawn is, with only three titles released so far: Horizon Zero Dawn, its sequel Horizon Forbidden West and its spin-off PS VR title Horizon Call of the Mountain (so far).
No details have yet emerged on any new Horizon games in development; however, Aloy’s story still holds plenty of secrets, which might explain why some believe a third Horizon title may soon emerge from development for that very reason.
Horizon fans have plenty to look forward to over the coming years, particularly with live-action adaptation set for release either next year or 2025.
