An upcoming Witcher-like RPG reinvents Jesus’ crucifixion story as you fight corruption and crime as God’s agent.

Have you ever considered what life might have been like if Jesus Christ’s story ended differently? Someone seems to have, since there’s now an interactive game which puts players into the role of an inquisitor fighting evil on a harsh terrain.

The Inquisitor, an upcoming RPG available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms, takes place in an alternate timeline where Jesus’ crucifixion took a very different form – in this timeline he broke free and instead pledged vengeance instead of forgiving; leading to dramatic shifts in history.

After many, many years have passed, you play Mordimer Madderdin as an agent of God who seeks to put an end to sin, corruption and crime through any means necessary. There will be elements similar to The Witcher 3 within this title such as detective work, combat, as well as having to judge whether being merciful would be useful or not.

Kalypso Media recently unveiled a stunning gameplay trailer on YouTube featuring some truly breathtaking graphics, along with glimpses into its historical setting and narrative that promises to play an integral part of gameplay.

One commenter loved the bizarre world idea, writing: “Loving this alternative Jesus story! Looking forward to exploring it further!”

Though you won’t be up against monsters and demons like Geralt of Rivia does, the game could just as bloodily depict inhabitants who’ve “lost their way” who require some holy justice for their misdeeds.

The Inquisitor will be released this year for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
