Unbeknownst to me, 22 years have gone by since Remedy Entertainment first introduced Max Payne onto the scene.

Those unfamiliar with Max Payne should definitely give this classic title a chance – its core story involves NYPD detective Max Payne as he works to solve his family’s murder while uncovering drug traffickers, leading up to two sequels including Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne and Max Payne 3. Fans long wanted remakes of both games to come to modern consoles; one fan even created their own mock new-gen version of Max Payne 2. However, Remedy Entertainment are in fact currently working on remakes remasters; however fans have noted how well the original game still holds up over time!

Reddit user Rodeo4613 initiated this discussion by writing, “22 years on from its release [and] Max Payne 1 remains one of my all-time favourite videogames – so much so, in fact, that plenty of fellow fans agreed with my assessment!”

22 years on, Max Payne 1 remains one of my all-time favorites and I highly encourage any gamer not yet experienced the experience to give it a shot! If this game has passed you by before now, don’t pass up this chance: give yourself something memorable and indulge your curiosity by checking it out now.

User eldisk said she never forgot playing this game and found its final moments powerful and moving; Sol1dshot added an unforgettable quote “‘They were all dead; the final gunshot was an exclamation mark on everything that had led up to that point; I released my finger from the trigger, and it was over,” which still sends chills through my spine when I think back on them all these years later.” Meanwhile The-copilot noted how incredible its writing had been: I still find myself thinking back on key lines from it 20 plus years later: ‘There was a bullet shaped hole where the answers should have been.'”

Smooth_Riker remembers fondly his time playing this game: the snowy city itself was almost an act in itself – much like Gotham in any good Batman adaptation – as you saw first hand how drug abuse had affected it on every level, down to seeing homeless junkies discussing its impacts around trash fires. I still recall sneaking into that hotel lobby area with one henchman watching Lords & Ladies super enthusiastically lol; packed full with detail unlike anything made at that time, now readying myself back up for my first taste of its playability.” Now I want my own copy back
