Since the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake earlier this year, no exact plan for what lies next in this franchise has become known; however, speculation has already started and one insider recently claimed Chris Redfield would return as the protagonist in Resident Evil 9, undoubtedly inspiring fear among fans everywhere!
Reportedly, classic characters Leon, Jill and Claire could join Chris to form an all-star Resident Evil cast; although reports also allege there will be more focus on action rather than horror scenes than before which may prove divisive among fans of Resident Evil.
Dusk Golem, who has made headlines as an influential industry insider on Reddit subreddits such as GamingLeaksAndRumours, recently claimed that Resident Evil 9 will likely be announced within one or two years before its 2025 release date. Speaking on Discord to another user who asked when we can expect Resident Evil 9, Dusk Golem replied “2025 is my prediction; likely will be announced next year”.
The insider also hinted that Capcom will unveil “a big game by year-end that may release in fall 2024”, though they didn’t provide details as to what that may be. On Reddit though, gamers had their own speculation as to what this may be.
“My best bet would be the next Monster Hunter title from Capcom World Team, whatever they may have in mind,” speculated SpaceGooV. Mr. Marss speculated it’s going to be Dino Crisis remake while Benchmarkedx suggested Dead Rising remake could also be worth looking out for as being pretty amazing!
At this stage, Capcom hasn’t confirmed that any of this information is reliable; so take it with a grain of salt as an estimate at best.
