Fans are in dire need for EA’s return of its iconic Def Jam series and many have signed an online petition imploring it for another release.

Remakes, remasters and revivals can be seen all around in gaming these days; just take a look at Metacritic’s list of highest-rated titles this year; most will fit one of these three categories.

That isn’t necessarily bad news and has got thousands of gamers excited at the prospect of their beloved series or franchise being given new life with enough support behind it; an example would be EA fans signing a petition calling on EA to bring back one series that had long since disappeared for several years–Def Jam.

Def Jam is an iconic fighting game franchise featuring hip-hop artists and other celebrity faces as virtual wrestlers in wrestling matches, an unusual concept but one which quickly gained immense fan support, leading to several titles and sequels in its series since 2007. Unfortunately, its last entry came out all of 11 years ago!

RAH Gaming initiated the petition calling for its release, declaring: “THIS IS THE OFFICIAL PETITION to get DEF JAM WORLD WAR on next-gen consoles from EA Games! EA Games needs this game!” As of yet, just shy of 12,000 signatures have been collected with 15k as its current goal set at.

Strangely enough, fans of not just one EA game – FIFA for instance – but several others as well are calling for revival: sports fanatics have called for the return of snowboarding video game franchise SSX that saw its last release back in 2012. In particular they want a remake of one of its early titles such as SSX Tricky to begin this revitalization effort.

Though EA might not commit the time or resources necessary to resurrecting the Def Jam series, fans would appreciate its return; after all, this franchise holds great appeal among modern audiences and should receive due recognition by EA for all their efforts in creating it!
