Call of Duty players often feel that unlocking the latest Season 5 weapons takes too long to accomplish.
As each Call of Duty season kicks off with exciting new content for both Warzone and Modern Warfare 2, expect plenty of changes and additions ranging from an enhanced battle pass to new weapons for you to unlock. There’s always plenty to look forward to in terms of unlockable content!
Since Season 5, players have already taken notice of two guns: The FR Avancer assault rifle and Carrack.300 sniper rifle are drawing players in as part of a battle pass subscription plan to obtain these powerful firearms. Players need to navigate multiple sectors in order to unlock these powerful firearms for themselves.
Due to new season’s game developments, however, players have found the increased token requirements unappetising.
Call of Duty players have taken to Reddit since Season 5 started, to express concern that unlocking new weapons now requires at least 35 battle pass tokens instead of 30, rather than being an immediate process.
It has not gone unnoticed by players and many have demanded its rollback; one player stated their wish, saying “Just take us back to the old battle pass system at this point”.
Call of Duty’s original Battle Pass system allowed players to progress through 100 tiers, starting from Tier One. Infinity Ward changed this approach for Modern Warfare 2, using sectors with token-locked content requiring tokens in order to unlock it.
Players looking for weapons faster are turning to other players for help, claiming: “In every season so far I’ve managed to procure both weapons within hours from other players in DMZ”.
Players have taken to extracting weapons from DMZ instead of working their way through battle passes, with reports that some were having difficulties doing this method of collection. But developers have implemented an update which allows players to take full advantage of it.
As yet it remains unknown whether there are plans to reduce the token requirements to unlock weapons at some point down the line; until that occurs it would probably make sense to frequent some DMZ areas so as to quickly acquire weapons.
