FireyCrow posted to the Assassin’s Creed subreddit, asking their opinion on Edward Kenway: “Please give me Your opinion of Edward Kenway… When I started playing the Assassin’s Creed franchise back in 2013, Black Flag was my introduction; after playing through and finishing all other chapters MC was never as enjoyable for me compared to Edward… Am I alone here or was Edward more charismatic?”
Many have agreed that Matt Ryan is an incredible actor as Black Flag’s protagonist and story is truly compelling in Black Flag. Many also commended Black Flag writer Jonathan Carrel’s outstanding depiction and execution in that novella.
Matt Ryan absolutely dominates as my second favourite protagonist behind Ezio.”
“Edward was my second favorite character – though Ezio still reigns supreme at present! If we had had more time playing as him he might well have become my number 1 choice… But Ezio just keeps on reigning supreme!”
“Edward was my favorite AC protagonist. His tale unfolded so well; partly why Black Flag is my inaugural AC game on Switch; another factor being Matt Ryan as Constantine.”
Hopes for the remake include increasing fan appreciation of his character and possibly leading to him returning in sequel or spin-off titles, such as his scheduled inclusion in Assassin’s Creed Titans.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag can now be played across Xbox, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch platforms.
