Elder Scrolls: Oblivion receives stunning 4K remaster

Though The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remains Bethesda’s flagship fantasy RPG game, 2006’s Oblivion remains highly-rated among fans of fantasy RPGs.

Oblivion remains one of my all-time favourite games; from awakening from prison cells and escaping through underground caverns with Patrick Stewart as Uriel to then be charged for murder by Uriel himself! Oblivion provided an epic adventure which, thanks to its stunning visuals and vast open world design, helped lay the groundwork for 2011’s Skyrim release.

Rumors have recently circulated suggesting Bethesda will officially remake Oblivion. As with any speculation, these should be taken with caution until proven otherwise; we hope however it doesn’t come at the expense of The Elder Scrolls VI – revealed five years ago with no clear concept behind its plot! Seriously Bethesda… what gives?!

While an official remake may or may not happen anytime soon, we can take comfort knowing that our amazing modding community has you covered with its own 4K remaster of Oblivion! A special thanks must go out to Bobobass84 who created all these HD Textures!

This mod, available as a 7.8GB download, updates the graphics in an already 17-year-old game with AI-enhanced 4K textures for modern gaming experience. However, according to DSOGaming you will require 21GB free storage space after unzipping this mod onto PC hard drives – now available from Nexusmods.

Furthermore, this mod not only improves the visuals of the base game and DLC but also its expansion ‘Knights of the Nine’ – something I am quite envious about since PC gaming isn’t in my budget! Mods like these make me wish that PC gaming were part of my life!

Relatedly, Fallout 3 is currently being recreated using Fallout 4’s Creation Engine with amazing results.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has now arrived for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 and can also be backward compatible with Xbox Series X|S and One consoles.
