The hidden web browser in PlayStation 5 is difficult to use
It’s not just frustrating, but it is insulting to have to find a way to get online in the modern age.
PlayStation owners must do this to browse the internet. Even then, to claim that it is even remotely similar to a full-fledged web browser would be a lie. It’s a shame that the PS5 removed this feature, considering how many console users use them to surf the web when they are not playing video games.
As an Xbox Series Player, you might be surprised to learn of the news. You might wonder why PS5 does not offer this basic feature …? My friends, the answer is porn. Redditors are assuming that this is what’s behind the problem.
The user AlphaRevenant stated: “I read an article that was published before the PS5’s release, which said there wouldn’t be an internet browser because people wouldn’t want to watch porn in their console.” This is confirmed by other users. One of them joked about Sony being “tired of being so highly ranked on PornHub”.
While some users say that Sony made the decision because of adult content, others claim the reason is simply the inability to provide a stable platform. One user explained that Sony couldn’t create a stable web browser. The PS4/PS5 is essentially a PS3 in a new shell, with only minor improvements to the graphics. This argument may be sound, but it’s not credible when a user claims that Sony got caught out “hiding sh*t and wishing that their consoles can spy on people “… It’s an interesting take.
No matter which side of this debate you fall on – porn or conspiracy – there’s an extremely-oh-so-tedious-it-borders-on-silly way to “browse” the net. You just need to be prepared to play around with Twitter’s linking options. But beware, the results are not worth it. We can only think of one other option, which is having your PS4 connected so that you can switch from PS5 to PS4 on the web. It’s absurd to be limited to this!
