Steam free game: Extremely limited window to download massive open-world horror RPG
For all you lovers of the macabre, death, horror, and gore, Steam currently has a free game available that’s one of the biggest open-world horror RPGs created. That’s right my spooky darlings, State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition is free to play.
Note the “free to play bit”, this is because the game has an extremely limited window in which it won’t cost you a penny. If you don’t download and play it within the next three days, you’ll be looking at a £24.99 price tag, though considering how much you’re getting with this special edition, that’s not a bad price.
Just in case you’ve never heard of this Xbox game, which would have me questioning your dedication to the horror genre, State of Decay 2 is a survival experience littered with zombies. You can’t move without one trying to eat you alive! It’s not how we want to see in the weekend, but such is life during the apocalypse.
The game was first released in 2018, then was re-released in 2020 as the Juggernaut Edition, which includes all major add-ons, such as the Independence Pack, Daybreak Pack, Heartland, and Homecoming (it used to be called Trumbull Valley). Now, that’s a lot of gameplay to try to cram into just three days! We’d be surprised if you can manage it, but we suspect some of you will welcome this Steam challenge.
Not only will this definitely provide you with a good challenge, it’ll also get you in the mood for State of Decay 3, whenever that horrific beauty is going to launch; we’ve been waiting a while now. It was first announced back in 2020, yet since then not a lot of news has dropped into our laps about what’s happening with this next instalment. For all we know, zombies could have eaten the Unreal Engine 5 it’s being created in. Whatever the reason for such a prolonged wait, it’s undoubtedly for decent reasons. After all, nobody wants a game to come out before it’s ready and flop like a certain game we won’t mention.
