Steam keys for The Day Before are being sold for exorbitant sums for some unknown reason.
By now, most have heard about The Day Before: one of 2023’s worst launch games and potentially one of its worst ever titles.
After experiencing an atrocious launch riddled with bugs so severe that some players couldn’t even leave its opening sequence, gamers are listing Steam keys for this game for over $300 each on eBay despite it having been shut down, refunded on Steam and even having had its developer close its doors permanently.
After hearing of all this drama surrounding a game’s cancellation, one might assume nobody would want anything to do with it, yet somehow people still seem eager to purchase keys at such prices. Scalpers might hawk them for sale while certain buyers might appreciate limited-release titles more. Furthermore, many might just wish to own part of gaming history!
Production for this game was plagued with controversy throughout, becoming one of the top wishlisted titles on Steam before accusations surfaced of scamming assets and plagiarising other titles for its trailer, followed by launch day where gamers voiced their disappointment by leaving thousands of negative reviews on Steam.
Owning a key for this awful game won’t bring any sort of status or financial reward in 10 years’ time; at best it may become worthless after they close down for good if any new server comes online, likely leaving an empty wasteland between users’ computers and its server that likely still hosts it (at time of writing, maybe soon to close completely); it is virtually unplayable while its studio folded (though they might just change name again); simply put, save your money!
