Insomniac’s recent leaks have mostly brought interesting Spider-Man news and Wolverine information, making many PlayStation gamers excited about the future. Insomniac chose Marvel’s Spider-Man as a sequel to Sunset Overdrive, which is why they decided to go all Marvel.

As per a massive Insomniac leaked that fans are able to find on the internet, Insomniac considered releasing Sunset Overdrive 2 in 2016. Marvel’s Spider-Man was released in 2017 and it shows that Insomniac chose the Marvel IP over Xbox IP.

Sunset Overdrive’s fans will be disappointed by the news, but it is probably for the best since Marvel’s Spider-Man was a huge hit on PlayStation. Sony bought Insomniac a year later, after Spider-Man was released.

Since then, the decision to focus on Spider-Man paid off. Sony has become one of its premier studios. Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2, and the first Spider-Man game were all critically acclaimed. Fans are eagerly awaiting The third instalment and Insomniac’s Wolverine, the upcoming game.

Sunset Overdrive has a colorful, open-world for the players to wreck havoc. It was true that the focus was on weapons but it still made for a fun game. It would have been great to see a sequel, but Insomniac did the right thing.

We’re sorry we only found out now, as there are still many other damning leaks about Insomniac. This is not just a cool video game. We hope the company can recover from this attack.

Marvel’s Spider-Man, the first installment of Marvel’s Spider-Man, is now available on PS4, PS5, PC and PS5. The sequel is exclusive to PS5.
