Fans are honoring Spider-Man 2 The Game (2004) as many believe its webswinging was superior to that seen in Marvel’s version.

Not to be confused with Insomniac Games’ forthcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PlayStation 5, Spider-Man 2 The Game was originally released for Xbox, PS2 and PC in July 2004 and remains one of the best Spider-Man titles ever created.

Although its graphics may have aged and voice acting was shockingly bad, Spider-Man 2 (2004) remains an amazing representation of what Spider-Man games could become, setting much of the groundwork for future titles, especially open world ones. Following events of Spider-Man 2, 2004 the game expands upon this narrative by including missions and villains not found in film such as Mysterio, Rhino and Kraven the Hunter on Xbox.

Of all of the parts within this game, however, one that consistently receives high praise is web-swinging; an easy skill to pick up but difficult to master. Once mastered though, once momentum was gained by mastering web-swinging you could launch yourself over New York skyscrapers into flight for maximum enjoyment!

Fans agree, too – recently discussing it on a Reddit thread started by Daredevil731 where many believed its webswinging was superior to that found in today’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games.

On this date in 2004, Spider-Man 2 The Game was officially launched for release.
“So many wonderful memories associated with playing this game! Convincing my parents to buy it for me because its 1:1 recreation of New York City coincided with our plans to travel there at that time was truly satisfying, lol!”

“[Spider-Man 2 is still] by far” Future games brought back open world New York but none offered as much fun to explore thanks to its speed and physics like in Spider-Man 2.

However, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 promises some interesting traversal mechanics for Peter Parker and Miles Morales to navigate, like web wings seen in its gameplay trailer; so it may also refine and improve regular webswinging gameplay mechanics.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be made available exclusively on PlayStation 5. Its release is anticipated for October.
