Hogwarts Legacy fans had high hopes for its release and gamers concur.
Reviews for Hogwarts Legacy were extremely positive on balance. With all metacritic scores falling within the 80s (with some slight deviation depending on platform), most critics seemed pleased that this Wizarding World RPG fared so well in their eyes.
Hogwarts Legacy’s player base may not share that view; from pre-launch criticism of its absence of Quidditch to those finding it dull upon launch and many feeling let down with how little Quidditch there was, many expressed disappointment and many thought the game felt hollow or disappointing upon playing it for real – however on Reddit some fans believe those disappointed may simply have set too high of expectations when looking forward to this adventure game.
“After only being on Reddit a short while, my observations of this sub have convinced me that many individuals may have expected too much from this game,” QuicheLee explained in her Reddit thread. The Wizarding World is just that – an entire planet full of wonder. As Avalanche’s inaugural attempt at an RPG set within it’s universe was never going to encompass everything and match JK Rowling’s seven book vision so how could anyone expect Avalanche RPG developers do encompass everything?
“Red Dead Redemption 2 has set such high expectations that many gamers expected too much from it, while my expectations were met and exceeded my own,” commented Lord_Detleff1. Avalanche was very honest from the outset regarding what would and wouldn’t be in their game; why people keep discussing things such as Quidditch when we already know of its absence,” commented Magic_mayhem21.
At this point, it seems inevitable that Hogwarts Legacy will get either DLC expansions or sequels; we shall just need to wait and see whether whatever arrives can meet players’ lofty expectations.
