Gamer finally meets Halo 3 buddy IRL 16 years after game’s release

They have provided the platform for some lasting friendships to form that would not otherwise exist without video gaming!
TikTok video from January, which showed one man’s girlfriend secretly organizing for an online gaming friend to visit and meet up, went viral – it always makes someone start cutting onions when I watch this! It is truly touching.
Reddit users are currently in an uproar about two Halo 3 friends meeting up after 16 years online – dating all the way back to 2007. THISwasSMART210 shared his tale along with an image showing both parties together for their initial meeting in Texas to Pennsylvania.
THATwasSMART210 went further in his post by noting how even though they no longer have time to play video games themselves, they still make sure they get together with old gaming acquaintances in person and this has been amazing!
Others have shared their own tales as well: “This is why MMOs matter: Last year my best friend flew across the country to be my best man at my wedding and two months ago we did the same for each other outside Orgrimmar 15 years earlier”, commented EddGarasjen; while SuperSeriousStud felt this aspect had become less prominent among current-gen games.
