Microsoft appears to be taking steady strides toward their dream acquisition of Activision – with fans of Tony Hawk’s Underground holding out hope it may finally receive the remake it so desperately deserves.

Development studio Neversoft released Tony Hawk’s Underground for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Game Boy Advance and PC back in 2003; Windows users would later see its launch a year later in 2004. What made Tony Hawk: Underground unique from other Tony Hawk games is its focus on an amateur skateboarder in story mode rather than on just passing levels through levels.

Remakes have become the trend lately; just think of Dead Space, The Last of Us Part I, Resident Evil 4, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as examples. Reddit user MagicHoops3 wrote on Reddit about this subject by writing, “Tony Hawk series is an answer for Activision series that needs remastered [or brought back], starting up this discussion.”

Sleepinismy9to5 said “THUG 1 should not be missed; that game is near perfection, with Eric Sparrow as its best villain ever,” while diverdown125 agreed and played it repeatedly as a child; she is really hoping that both games (THUG and THUGA 2) receive remaster versions soon! GraniteStater69 remembered “THUG 1, 2, and 3 were truly legendary games, I still dust off my GameCube occasionally to give some rides another try! ”

Microsoft remains uncertain how they’ll utilize Activision’s vast assortment of IPs if their acquisition goes through, though we know Xbox has signed an agreement with PlayStation to keep Call of Duty alive on both platforms. PlayStation fans remain concerned over what Microsoft may do with Spyro and Crash Bandicoot — once beloved icons of their platform.
