As we get closer to the release date of Starfield, more and more details start coming in.

Bethesda presented the “Starfield Direct” presentation. There was so much information that you could forgive yourself if certain details were overlooked. It was so much information that it took me two viewings to get the full effect.

Reddit recently shared a new detail: the capability to steal from NPCs without their knowledge in real time. It looks extremely tense.

opened the discussion thread by saying “This is Bethesda’s first game to feature pickpocketing real-time.” The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and other games featured pickpocketing. However, gameplay would stop during the process.

Starfield will allow you to pickpocket an NPC without pause. The gameplay will then continue as normal. In 2022, we saw the Starfield gameplay reveal (as shown in the video at the end of the five-minute mark). We also noticed that Starfield features lockpicking too.

Pickpocketing in real-time means I will be caught more often than not, and that my intergalactic fingersticking shenanigans are soon to come to an end. Reddit user, HiNooNDooD1544 put it so well: “I used to be an adventurous person like you before I got a bullet in the knee,” which will end my career as a pickpocket.

Some preorders have been cancelled, and Starfield fans are understandably worried. It also appears that Xbox head Phil Spencer has already played Bethesda’s sci-fi action RPG.

S. If you have pre-ordered the Premium Edition or Constellation Edition then it is 1 September. Starfield will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
