Tomb Raider Classic now comes complete with gorgeous Retina Display Upgrade (RTX Remaster).
Lara Croft in all her forms is delightful, yet there’s something particularly memorable about the original 1991 version that makes its impact felt in an entirely unique manner. Unfortunately, its graphics may cause discomfort for our eyes, making recapturing that sense of wonder difficult.
Fans who’ve long desired the classic 1996 32-bit original can now experience a glimpse at a fan remake that promises to bring joy. YouTube user Dominus Aurate uploaded an eye-catching clip demonstrating an “RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod WIP”.
Aurate’s Croft mod still needs work before its finalized, but fans now have an opportunity to see her in her original form, but with some subtle upgrades. Now she casts shadows, lighting is no longer simply flat pixels and there is even the occasional *chef’s kiss* reflection effect!
However, if Croft’s distinctive character remains part of why you cherish the original, don’t worry; while RTX Remix adds modern finesse to graphics, retro textures remain authentically 1990s – giving Tomb Raider fans the best of both worlds experience! This might just be what they desire most when playing Tomb Raider!
Unfortuantely, while this clip is stunning to look at and tantalising to watch, no download for RTX Remix Mod has yet been made available and when that may happen. Even so, since neither the Remix Creator Tool or Mod Creator have made their appearance yet we must settle with what limited materials there may be available at present.
Assuming you enjoy Lara Croft pixel perfection running on an all new engine, then there is still hope that Tomb Raider 2024 might release in summer 2024 – though no official date has been set as speculation reigns supreme for now!
No matter how old-school you may be, this gorgeous fan remake has us excited for a return of Tomb Raider! As new owners have yet to update rumor of an imminent remake by creating content, fans like us must now provide what content we desire!
