PlayStation 5 owners were fooled into thinking Baldur’s Gate 3 will arrive earlier than anticipated, leading them into thinking an earlier release date exists for Baldur’s Gate 3.
PlayStation 5 gamers’ hopes of an earlier Baldur’s Gate 3 release date have been dashed by what can only be described as deliberate misinformation.
Issue is, this information came straight from Sony via their PlayStation App and many players quickly began celebrating this news with gusto.
Push Square reports that PlayStation app users began receiving notifications regarding Baldur’s Gate 3 release dates starting 8 August 2023 via Push Square notifications in their PlayStation apps, with emails bearing subject lines “Baldur’s Gate 3, New Launch Date / Preorder now ” arriving several hours after.
Larian Studios, publisher of this title, has not altered the release date according to official sources. Although two release dates for PS5 versions exist simultaneously, all PS players know about this information already.
Due to fans being able to purchase the Baldur’s Gate 3 Digital Deluxe Edition for $80 and gain early access of up to 72 hours before launch day (2 September for some users), two launch dates exist instead.
And yet Sony seems to have inexplicably stated otherwise despite being well informed of this information. Although an apology was sent out via social media channels for their oversight in misstating early access availability for deluxe version players. Unfortunately no response from them yet either regarding human error or simply poorly worded reminder that early access is an option available to them.
Though we cannot provide further details as to what has gone wrong, spare a thought for Xbox players who do not yet know when Xbox Series ports will arrive.
